Come learn about the River District vision, read a book, play a game with your kids or join us for one of our many special events and activities!

River District Centre (RDC) is an innovative building created to host events and activities, such as yoga and movie nights, and to communicate the vision for River District using a state-of-the-art model and interactive exhibits.  Adjacent to the Centre, there is a sandbox, park, recycled driftwood play structure, restaurant and community plaza.

There is something for everyone at the Centre.

Your visit will start with a welcoming smile from one of our staff and from there the experience is up to you!  You can interact with touch screen TVs, locate your home on the giant context map or learn about the history of the area.  Kids can choose a book to read from the library, play a video game or test their skills (and patience!) with the floor puzzle.

RDC has partnered with established community organizations like Urban Rec, Family Place, Fit4Two, Arts Umbrella and Scouts Canada to bring programming to the area.  The RDC team also hosts a variety of community-oriented events including movies, clubs, celebrations and much more.  Visit the online calendar for the latest events and activities schedule.

RDC is more than just a pretty building.  It is also sustainable! Locally-sourced materials and recycled resources were included in the construction of the Centre. As part of a site-wide rain water management plan, RDC is outfitted with a variety of water-saving features. RDC is also equipped with energy efficient mechanical equipment and a green roof.
