Step back in time to the old Fraser—and plant seeds for tomorrow

Like River District, The Fraser River Discovery Centre is interested in everything to do with the past, present and future of the Fraser. Their space in New Westminster is worth checking out when you are visiting the area. Here are some upcoming events.
On May 12 from 7pm-8:30pm you can here local historian and storyteller Archie miller recount tales of the riverbank from the olden days in The Fraser River: Images & Stories. Archie’s style is vivid and entertaining, linking the past and present through extensive archival imagery as well as photographs of his own.
Admission is by donation, but due to Miller’s popularity pre-registration is recommended. Please call the Discovery Centre at 604.521.8401 to reserve your seat. Space is limited.
If you plan on moving to River District to get closer to nature, what about trying your hand at gardening? Fraser River Centre’s Plants Alive exhibit opened April 30th and runs Wednesday through Saturday 2pm-4pm until June 2012. You can find out how to encourage native plants—and how they can add diversity to your own garden. There will be hands-on displays in a temporary greenhouse on-site.
