26 Nov 2011 - 11:00 am
River District Centre - Vancouver
River District Centre is pleased to offer yoga classes taught by registered yoga teacher, Liana Yip, every Saturday between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Hatha:
Sleep in a little and then come join us for a session of hatha yoga to start your weekend off right. Hatha yoga is the classical form of yoga postures and breathing that revitalizes the body mentally and physically. It is an uplifting practice that improves flexibility and concentration as well as increases muscle tone and detoxifies the vital organs. And if you work up an appetite, you can treat yourself to brunch at Romers.
About Liana Yip
Liana took her first yoga class in 2001 and immediately fell in love with the practice. She found it was the perfect complement to her 20 years of dance experience, yet much more rewarding. Never in her life had she encountered such peace, joy and bliss like that which she discovered through regular yoga practice.
Yoga addresses physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs; it awakens energy in the body, while calming the mind. Everyone comes to yoga with different intentions, whatever Liana’s students are seeking, she believes in the all-encompassing benefits of yoga to provide them with what they need, and then some.
In 2010, Liana’s passion for yoga saw her travelling to Dharamshala, India to study under Yogi Sividas. She trained in Sivananda Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa (Power Yoga). Currently, Liana is undertaking a Masters in Counselling Psychology and plans to combine the healing benefits of yoga with a Western psychological perspective.
Liana is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) with the Yoga Alliance and teaches to the general population as well as at-risk youth.
