On Sunday, September 29 from 10am – 2pm, join us at River District for a sustainability-themed event celebrating BC Rivers Day!
Here’s an overview of activities happening throughout the day:
Kids Clothing Sale
From 10:00am-12:00 noon, shop and stock up on gently-worn clothing for infants and children (5 and under). Choose from an assortment of onesies, rompers, pyjamas, sweaters, t-shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, outerwear and more. With purchase, choose a free item from a bin of socks, headbands, stockings, hats and other accessories. All items will be priced at $1, $2 or $5. Please note, the sale is CASH ONLY.
All proceeds from the clothing sale will directly support Fraserlands Family Place for the purchase of new toys, books, and educational items.
Victory Gardens: Planter Demo & Kids Activities
Gardening has got you stumped? Bring your questions! Victory Gardens is a knowledgeable team of urban farmers for hire who specialize in transforming all types of urban space for food production. As no two spaces are the same, neither are the gardens grown! Victory Gardens’ goal is to enable people to grow food by providing all the necessary educational tools and infrastructure for successful harvests. Throughout the day, Victory Gardens will be leading a planter demonstration and kids activities, which include: making newspaper pots and decorating seed packs!
Free Geek Vancouver: E-waste Recycling
De-clutter for Fall – clear out those old technology-stuffed drawers and boxes! Free Geek Vancouver will be on-site to collect your e-waste for recycling and/or responsible disposal. Furthermore, event attendees will also have opportunities to play vintage video games and challenge a Free Geek staff members in a friendly competition. If you “beat” one of the “geeks,” you will be eligible to win a prize!

Munchkin Matinee: March of the Penguins
Join us at 3:00pm for a FREE screening of March of the Penguins! March of the Penguins is a documentary about the annual journey of the Emperor Penguins of Antarctica. The film follows the penguins as they return to their ancestral breeding grounds every autumn, strive for a successful courtship and if their chick hatches, then both parents have to make multiple trips between the ocean and the breeding grounds to ensure the survival of their chick. This film won the 2005 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Come witness the lives of these extraordinary creatures!
