River District is a sustainability winner!
ParkLanes Homes’ River District is REFBC’s Private Sector 2011 Land Award winner.
On November 3rd, Real Estate Foundation British Columbia (REFBC) presented Land Awards in four categories, “recognizing leadership and innovation in the sustainable use or conservation of land.” We’re proud to announce that River District was the winner in the Private Sector category!
Since acquiring this former industrial site eight years ago, ParkLane Homes and the River District team have been working with the City of Vancouver and the surrounding neighbourhoods to develop River District as a sustainable community. So far, plans include 25 acres of parkland, vegetated bio-swales, a distinct energy utility (an environmentally friendly community energy system that will provide space heating and domestic hot water to buildings), a balanced housing mix and green roofs including one on the River District Centre. Learn more about them and River District in its entirety in this short video put together by the REFBC.

As reported in The Vancouver Sun, Real Estate Foundation CEO Jack Wong said the Land Award recipients “stand out as models for how we can develop more responsibly – and, even more fundamentally, how we can plan our communities in ways that meet the needs of people and the environment we all share.”
We feel truly honoured to have been recognized for our efforts. Thank you to the Real Estate Foundation and congratulations to the other nominees for their continued dedication to sustainable living in BC.
